Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) causes persistent fatigue (exhaustion) that affects everyday life and doesn't go away with sleep or rest.
CFS is also known as ME, which stands for myalgic encephalomyelitis. There's some debate over the correct term to use for the condition, but this page will refer to the condition as CFS.
CFS is a serious condition that can cause long-term illness and disability.
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
It's not known exactly what causes CFS. Various theories have been suggested, including:
a viral or bacterial infection
problems with the immune system
an imbalance of hormones
psychiatric problems, such as stress and emotional trauma
Many people with CFS don't just have one symptom or one thing that causes the tiredness and exhaustion. I have found that by taking each symptom one at a time and treating it individually my techniques can lead to much reduced aches and pains and therefore less need for medication (done in conjunction with your G.P.) and a lot less tiredness & fatigue
